Dr. Eric Herring

Dr Eric Herring is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Politics, University of Bristol. He has been at the forefront of academic attempts to push conventional International Relations theory in a more critical direction. Among his areas of research is the analysis of Anglo-American interventionism in Iraq, particularly the politics of weapons inspections, the UN humanitarian programme during the period of UN sanctions 1990-2003, and the current reconstruction process in Iraq.  He has collaborated in this ESRC-funded work with Dr. Glen Rangwala (University of Cambridge), with whom he co-authored Iraq in Fragments: the occupation and its legacy (Cornell University Press, 2006). He has given oral testimony and written evidence to the House of Commons Select Committee on UK Policy in Iraq.
